An Author with an Art Degree

You would think, being a writer, that writing about myself would come easy. And to that I say “Ha!” 

Think it through and you’ll understand why. Writers aren’t known for writing our own biographies. It’s our characters that readers love, and the worlds we create. And I don’t feel like I’m boasting when I tell you I can do that, and do it well. I’ve been writing since I was in high school, and yes, the early years had their fair share of unedited, unplotted fanfiction frights, but I learned from them. Enough that not only do I have a healthy following on Fanfiction.net, but I also won third place in Inkitt.com’s Skybound Science Fiction and Fantasy contest. The book that won was an earlier edition of The Hybridian Way, which is coming out in print this year.

I learned art in a more traditional manner and graduated with my Bachelor of Arts from Houston Baptist University in 2012. The techniques I teach in my online classes I learned there first from active, practicing artists that worked day jobs as professors. My paintings and prints showed in the Student Art Exhibit three different years and I was part of a group exhibit that showed in Germany, summer 2012.
